Blues fans travelled to the Hall in hope rather than expectation knowing that a win for MillYawn would pip United to the playoffs. Fish Walsh blew out with toothache, Nick Prawnby reports, with help from Jerri Prawniwell, Scott Conga and Jack Conga.
First half and ther’s a subdued atmosphere amongst the 9000 crowd as the Blues probe the pretty average Bury defence. No Ranger but 4Tuna is causing problems. News from Bristol dampens the mood, MillYawn 1-0 up. Lenny hits the post then McLaugh-in slots home for 1-0 Blues! Then we hear Yawn are 2-0 up! Hopes are raised as Bristol score for 1-2, but Yawn go 3-1 and it’s all quiet again. Halfo 1-0 Blues, but we spend more time watching our phones than the game! It’s now 2-3 HT at Bristol, all to play for!!
Second half and Blues push on and on 74mins it’s 3-3 at Bristol and we’ve made the playoffs! The crowd goes mad and start checking phones for Scunny tickets……. then on 85 mins it’s gloom again… But the Blues keep on trying to score a second, Bury fans think they’re safe, It’s all over and we all wait… but Yawn win, and it’s just the players lap around the pitch left for us to applaud.
Well done Blues, we would have settled for 7th before Xmas!!
