Eastleigh 0 Southend UNITED 1

The Mighty Shrimpers had the Spitfire’s commentary team spitting feathers as Marcus Dackers was straight into the side. Nearly 800 Shrimpers were there to see the Blues banish last season’s undeserved loss. Beastleigh were looking forward to a Cup game v Manchester United, although how that was going to happen after they get tonked by Newport in a replay, nobody knew, or cared.

First half and Blues are on top with Noor, Dackers, Sandat and Wes all spurning good chances. Eastleigh striker Scott Quigley then does a leg-breaking challenge on Cav Miley and somehow escapes with just a yellow card. Beastleigh hang on for 0-0 halfo.

Second half and more of the same with Jack Bridge converting a penalty and Kensdale heading onto the bar. Jason Demetriou comes on for his 250th appearance late on as Blues see it out for 3 points.
