Prawn Connery and Fish Walsh report from Vale Park, having travelled on the TZ coaches with loyal Blues fans hoping for an EZ PZ display from the Mighty Shrimpers. After several shandies the Prawn Duo reckon 1-1 (Fish) and 4-2 Blues (FAFFY computer game thingy via Prawn Connery). Sir Nick says 2-1 Blues. Lucky charms include helping a Vale fan to win £25 on a scatchcard, and receiving beers in return. Blues stay unchanged with Hunty still in despite birth pains.
First half.……. Scrappy game in the chilly Potteries, Bulge and Timmo trying hard to get booked, Barney makes a chance and shoots inches over. Vale corner and set-piece voodoo hits the Blues as Dickwad converts at the far post, 0-1 Vale. Ex-blue Antman Grant playing well, sets up a chance and after fannying about by the Blues defence, Vale go 0-2 up. The Poet hits the woodwork straight away, Timmo yellowed and frustrated. Bulge wants to score more goals and succeeds with an OG, OH GEE what a shambles 0-3. Early sub by Phil, Wozza has to come on for Madman Timmo, 43 mins. Blues limp to halftime.
Halftime and stunned Prawnsters Fish and Prawn discuss the second half to come, along with 284 other glum Shrimpers. Prawn gets a lovely pie and a free beer from a happy Vale fan. Look on the bright side after all.
Second Half and McQueen is on for Payney, gotta have a go. Vale slowing it down, Big Willy Atko booked, O’Neil having a mare, Mooney comes on for Hunty. Shocking set plays from the Blues, then Moons sets up Mcqueen for consolation goal, 1-3. PENALTY 94 mins and Moons hits the bar! Which is where Prawn and Fish wish they still were!! Full time 1-3.
